  • Remove and destroy all infested fruit
  • Call SIR toll free at 1-800-363-6684 for more information

How does OK SIR obtain its Harvest Assessment Data?

Our criteria for sampling is as follows:

 
Acreage Fruit Sample Size # Of Trees # Of Fruit Per Tree
<=3 500 10 50
3.1 - 20 1000 20 50
20.1 - 30 1500 30 50

Sampling method:

  • FOLLOW A ‘W’ PATTERN IN THE ORCHARD.

  • 5 TREES SHOULD BE ON THE PERIMETER (each point of the ‘W’)

  • RANDOM SELECTION OF THE TREE

  • RANDOM SELECTION OF THE TREE AREA (BRANCH)

  • WITHOUT PICKING FRUIT:
    50 FRUIT PER TREE: 25 BOTTOM AND 25 TOP OF RANDOMLY SELECTED AREA

  • RECORD ALL INFORMATION ON THE HARVEST SAMPLE SHEET PROVIDED, BY VARIETY. 

  • COMPLETE THE CALCULATIONS FOR TOTAL SAMPLED; TOP & BOTTOM; TOTAL DAMAGE AND PERCENT DAMAGE. 

  • COUNT 1 DAMAGED FRUIT REGARDLESS OF ENTRIES. 

  • COUNT ANY VISIBLE DAMAGE.
